In the serenity, the quite of the night Imperceptible footsteps creep across the hall Bringing the silence of the night to call In the depths of my wingback chair Solitude has sundry words to spare over the cups of tea we two share within a lull in conversation a profound whisper of silence that seems to echo ever louder as if in defiance Another deep drag of hot tea soaking deep into my bones, a harbinger of peace within me An exhale of steam & calm That swirls & twines about the room in wispy tendrils Basking in the hush which has fallen between us worlds of conversation shared without a single utterance Just the two of us in our cocoon, our stillness, our little world of quietude
